Advanced Equipment For Field Preparation


Mould Board Plough

The main parts of this Plough are Far, Mould Board, Land Side, Frog etc. Its bar is of bar type and it is made of high carbon steel or low alloy steel. The depth of ploughing of this plough is controlled by hydraulic lever or by three point linkage of tractor. Even the hardest soil can be easily broken with this plough. This plough gives 40-50 percent labour saving, 30 percent saving in operating cost and 4-5 percent increase in yield as compared to indigenous plough.

Uses: It is a primary tillage equipment. Its main function is to cut, lift and break the soil. It also mixes the green manure crops well in the soil in the soil, which increases the humus in the soil. Apart from this, it also mixes well the compost, lime sprinkled in the field in the soil.


Disc Plough

This is a plow that cuts, turns and in some cases breaks the soil, disc plow works well in situations where the mold board plow does not work satisfactorily. Plow discs are made of high grade steel or ordinary iron and have a hard and sharp edge. It works well in sticky soil, in which mold board plow does not work. It is more useful for deep plowing. It can be used safely in stony soil.


Subsoiler Plow

It helps in breaking down the hard layer of the soil, loosening the soil and allowing water to Infiltrate . A small drain can also be made from it, which can be used to drain the water. The depth of the instrument is controlled by the hydraulic system of the tractor. Plough is used for deep ploughing which increases the water holding capacity of the soil. In this way, its use increases the yield up to 30 percent.


Rotavator

The seed bed is prepared with rotavator on dry and moist soil. Rotavator is made of steel frame on which rotary shaft with blades and power transfer system are connected with gear box. It has 'S' shaped blade which is made of carbon steel or alloy steel. The power is transferred to the blades through the gear box by the rotational motion of the PTO shaft . With this, green manure crops and straw etc. lying in the field can be mixed well in the soil. With the help of rotavator, the soil can be made more friable. Two-time tillage of the cultivar is equivalent to its one-time tillage. This results in 60 percent labour saving, 40-50 percent saving in operating cost and 2-3 percent increase in yield as compared to tractor operated plough.

Uses: This implement is more useful for preparing dry and farm nursery and for mixing straw and green manure in the field.


Cultivator

These are land scraping equipment like a country plough, but in the same time can do three to four tines more work than a country plough, because they have many tines . They are mostly used for pulverise the soil after ploughing, breaking the clods and separating the soil from stubble etc. The seeds can be scattered in the field and mixed in the soil. When there is a proper difference in the crops sown in rows, they are used for weeding and hoeing between the lines. Sometimes soil is also applied to the crops by overturning the soil. Their width can be reduced or increased and used in crops sown at different intervals. They can be ploughed three to four inches deep. In these arrangements are made to make the tillage more or less deep, which can be done with the help of wheels.


Spring Tyne Cultivator

Spring tine cultivator consists of frame, tine, reversible shovel, pulling system, heavy duty spring, etc.The function of the spring is to protect the tines from hard objects and stones while moving. Shovel is made of heat treated steel. This cultivator is mounted type which is controlled by hydraulic system of tractor. This machine saves 50 percent labour and 30-35 percent in operating cost as compared to animal operated cultivator.

Uses: Its main function is to prepare dry or wet nursery beds and it is also used in wide row weeding.


Duck Foot Cultivator

Duck-foot cultivator is widely used in the black-cotton type soil. It is used for final field preparations and finer pulverization of the top soil immediately before sowing. Can cultivate land up to 6 inches & helpful in removal of left over weeds. This machine gives 30% labour saving, 35% saving in operating cost and 3-4% increase in yield as compared to animal operated cultivator.

Uses: It is the primary earth finishing machine. This helps in controlling weeds easily and retains moisture in the soil.



Disc Harrow

Tractor driven disc harrows have two disc gangs, one behind the other. The front gang throws the soil out and the rear gang throws the soil inwards. That's why not a little land remains uncut from this harrow. The frame of this implement is very strong. Its disc is arranged with two gang and three point linkage. When we plough the garden with this harrow, it throws the soil out and in, due to which the soil falls away from the tree. Weeded fields can be ploughed with a serrated disc harrow. Tractor driven disc harrows are best used in orchards, among trees. This reduces the labour cost by 40 percent and the cost of farm preparation by 54 percent. Compared to animal operated cultivator, this machine saves 40 percent labour, 54 percent savings in operating cost and increases yield by 2-3 percent.

Uses: It is secondary tillage implement suitable for tillage of gardens. This causes the soil to be thrown on both sides, as its discs are opposite to each other.


Power Harrow

Power Harrow is used to turn, break, refine and even distribution of soil over the entire working width to create a perfect seed bed. It breaks up even the most compacted ground, often in single pass for preparing an area for plantation. Power Harrow consists of multiple set of blades which counter-rotate about a vertical axis, which leaves the soil with a softer look and granulated yet levelled appearance, as required for sowing seeds or seedlings. An advantage of using this machine is that it makes the right proportion of small and large pieces of soil, which prevents the formation of hard layer in the field. This machine can be used on all types of soil. It is also good for ploughing rocky and barren lands. The cost of tillage can be reduced with this machine, because it is less energy consuming, as well as it has a longer life compared to other machines.
